Carissa (Pabian) Boyer, Miss SNPJ 2002, hails from Lodge 138 in Strabane, Pa. She is the daughter of Frank and Bevrly Pabian (138) and has one sister, Courtney, Miss SNPJ 2004. Her paternal grandparents are Rosella (138) and the late Frank Pabian (138), and her paternal grandparents are Frank Egizio of Southview, Pa., and Elizabeth Egizio of McMurray, Pa.

Carissa  began participating in Youth Circle 19 activities during early childhood. Her first involvement with the Circle was the annual Christmas show. As time went on, she regularly participated  in a multitude of seasonal activities. She was a member of the Circle 19 Bowling League for 14 years, participated annually in SNPJ Family Twosome Bowling Tournaments and Youth Telegraphic Bowling Tournaments, assisted at Circle 19 fund-raisers and was a contributor to The Voice of Youth and PROSVETA. As a teenager she attended the SNPJ TEL Workshops where she made many new and lasting friendships with delegates from across the country. Many of the friendships she acquired have been preserved into adulthood.

Carissa was a contestant in the 1998 Miss SNPJ Pageant, at which she was awarded the 1999 Miss Activity title and selected first run-ner- up to  Miss SNPJ. She served on the 1999 and 2000 Miss SNPJ  Pageant committees, witnessing the thrilling behind-the-scenes experiences which gave her the determination to fulfill her dream of one day being crowned Miss SNPJ. Her dream came true on the eve of her 21st birthday when she was crowned Miss SNPJ 2002.  She was also awarded the Miss Talent 2002 runner-up title.

Carissa is a 1998 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School and a 2003 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania. She holds a bachelor’ degree in education and is employed as a math teacher with Calvert County School District in Maryland.  She is currently  in the process of  obtaining her master’s degree in administration and supervision. Carissa  was married June 18, 2005, to Joshua Boyer of Selingsgrove, Pa. They reside in North Beach, Md.
